Team Ghana had an impressive run in their games in Day one of the ongoing African Badminton Championship in Ivory Coast.

The tournament which is  supervised by the Confederation of Africa Badminton and serves as qualifiers to the 2018 Commonwealth Games, saw the Ghanaians winning ten out of the eleven games played on Friday.

With the exception of Eyram Yaa Migbodzi who lost 21-14  and 21-9 to her Egyptian opponent, the rest had a smooth ride in the men's singles, women's singles, men's double, women's doubles and the mix doubles matches.

Though Eyram lost her game, she teamed up with  Ebenezer Andrews in the mixed doubles, and Grace Atipaka  twice in the women's doubles to brush aside their contenders from Ivory Coast and Benin respectively.

Head coach of the team Jacob Evans Wilson and his assistant Ocansey Ahumah with support from Emefa Cynthia Adamtey a member of the Women  Commissioners in badminton are optimistic of massive improvement in the team's play in subsequent games.

Meanwhile host nation Ivory Coast were also impressive. They won most of their matches in both the men and women singles, the doubles and the mixed doubles. The games will continue on Sunday
