JURGEN KLOPP praised Christian Benteke after the striker gave 10-man Liverpool a dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Alan Pardew's side led through Joe Ledley's strike and looked comfortable when James Milner was sent off for a second yellow card on 62 minutes.

But Alex McCarthy gifted Roberto Firmino the Reds' equaliser before Benteke went down following a challenge by Damien Delaney and got up to coolly score the spot-kick.

And Klopp was pleased with the Belgian, who had gone over two months without a goal before today's match.

"It was a perfect change, he really worked hard," Klopp said. "His first touch was a big chance and then it was his penalty.

"He made the move and forced the situation. It was a clear penalty and then he was pretty cool with the penalty.

"Football is a lot of things and sometimes it's all about passion. What I saw today from my players, they defended with all they had and that's good to see."
