The Black Queens booked a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after battling to a 1-1 draw against Mali in the final Group C match on Wednesday.

Knowing that a positive result would be enough to secure qualification, Ghana produced a disciplined performance against a resilient Malian side.

Black Queens broke the deadlock in the first half, capitalising on a rare opportunity to take the lead and pile pressure on the Mali.

Mali responded strongly after the break, increasing the intensity and creating several chances in to get the equaliser. The Black Queens remained composed in the closing stages, managing the game well to ensure the point needed to progress to the knockout stage.

The result sees Ghana finish the group phase with four points, setting up a quarter-final showdown with Malawi.
