Former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku believes Hearts of Oak will make it to the "Group Stage" of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ghana international has predicted the Phobians will eliminate the JS Saoura of Algeria in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off round.

Hearts are set to play the Algerian side in a two-legged encounter with the winner set to advance to the group stage of the Confederation Cup.

According to Kwame Opoku who now plies his trade in Algeria with USM Algiers, the Ghanaian club needs to 'finish' the job in Accra to make the return leg a mere academic exercise.

"I see that Hearts of Oak have the upper hand over them (JS Saoura)," Opoku told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

"This is because Saoura will come to Ghana for the first leg match and they will not open up, they will not let the game flow in order not to concede plenty of goals and so we have the advantage.

"We must make sure to kill the game here else it will be very difficult over there."

The first leg is expected to be played between November 26-28, 2021 while the second leg will take place the following week.

Hearts of Oak have dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup after they were kicked out of the CAF Champions League following a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club, WAC.

The results over two legs saw WAC progress to the Group Stages of the competition after completing a 6-2 aggregate victory over the Phobians.
