Al Ahly coach Patrice Carteron is appealing to CAF for security ahead of their Champions League final return against Esperance de Tunis.

Egypt's Al Ahly ensured a first leg win when it defeated Tunisia’s Esperance 3-1 at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium on Friday night in the 2018 CAF Champions League final.

Ahly’s Walid Soliman converted two penalty kicks, while Amr el Soulia scored the other goal for the hosts and Youcef Belaili also scored a penalty for Esperance.

The Red Devil’s coach Patrice Carteron was happy with the victory and quickly looked forward to the upcoming second leg.

"We delivered a good match and managed to get this comfortable win," Carteron said in the press conference after the match.

"We will fight in the second leg in Tunisia to return with the title. We will be facing a respectable team and we will have the proper preparation," Cateron said.

The Frenchman also called for some ‘protection’ against the expected hostility his men will encounter in Tunis.

"We will ask for special protection for our team in Tunisia. I hope the Tunisian government will take an effort to make the confrontation a football match, not a war in the stands," the coach said.

The second leg match will take place this Friday, 9 November 2018.
