Kano Pillars had to fight from 2-1 down to beat Asante Kotoko 3-2 in the CAF Champions League first-leg match.


The qualifying match which was played at the Saani Abacha Sports Stadium saw Kano Pillars score first in the 11th minute through Rahaqqu Adam.

They held on to the lead till halftime. Kotoko clearly listened to words of their coach Kjetil Zachariassen as they equalized in the 48th minute through Justice Blay.

Kotoko went ahead for the first time in the game as Godfred Asiamah made it 2-1 in the 64 minutes.

Kotoko could not hold their lines and Pillars drew 2-2 in the 66 minutes through Victor Dennis.

Kano Pillars then got the all-important goal in the 77 minutes through Nyima Nekabari.

The second leg will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on August 23, 2019.
