CAF endorse African Super League

CAF on Friday approved the 'African Super League' at the Extraordinary Assembly in Cairo.

The football body passed a resolution at a general assembly in Cairo that could have wide-ranging consequences for league association football.

The CAF 54 member countries voted to give the organization's executive committee permission to move forward with plans to introduce a pan-Africa league tournament.

"This matter is still with exco as today was an endorsement of this clear understanding that this is an important competition that will benefit African football.

"While improving the quality, but also generate income not only for those clubs and countries that are participating.

"But for those who are not participating as well.

"So we will make an announcement in due course in terms of what additional information we want to provide on the Super League.

"But it’s something that is exciting and has huge potential and it will be submitted soon.

"We took this decision today to say exco must continue with the good work it is doing."

Meanwhile, Motsepe also pledged to improve the standard of refereeing on the content after numerous high-profile dubious decisions.
