Ghana has finally won its first medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The bronze medal was won by boxer Jessie Lartey after he lost his semifinal fight against Canada’s Thomas Blumenfeld.

Lartey lost via a unanimous decision of the men’s 64kg boxing competition.

Despite the defeat, Lartey gets a bronze medal which is Ghana's first at the competition.

In athletics, the male 4×100 relay team failed to start in their first-round heat, after two members of the team, Martin Owusu Antwi and Sean Safo-Antwi were declared unfit after they picked up various injuries from the 200m semifinals and 100m heat events respectively in the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
