Chelsea moved into the Premier League top four as Marcos Alonso's late strike gave them a 1-0 win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea finally broke down a stubborn Toon as Alonso (73) struck a fierce low effort after being fed by Callum Hudson-Odoi on the left of the box.

The first half lacked any clear-cut chances as Chelsea struggled to break down a Newcastle side intent on playing on the counter, while in the second Tammy Abraham had three clear chances to score, either side of Alonso's winner.

Dele Alli scored a late equaliser for Tottenham in a 1-1 draw with Watford but confusion surrounded it as a VAR review awarded the goal on the field but disallowed it on the big screen.

Alli's leveller (86) - after Abdoulaye Doucoure (6) had given Watford the lead - was reviewed by VAR for a potential handball and referee Chris Kavanagh signalled for a goal but the big screen stated that the goal had been ruled out.

Result for Saturday

Everton 2-0 West Ham
Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton
Bournemouth 0-0 Norwich
Leicester 2-1 Burnley
Tottenham 1-1 Watford
Wolves 1-1 Southampton
Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
