Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford scored two goals as his side beat Liverpool 2-1 in an English Premier League game at Old Trafford.

Rasford who has been out of the team for some time proved his worth when he was thrown into the starting eleven as he scored a beautiful curler in the 14th minute.

That sent Old Trafford into flames but there was more to come as Rashford got on the scoresheet again in the 24th minute after an error by the Liverpool defence.United held on till the 1st half with the two-goal cushion.

In the 2nd half, it was Liverpool that came out strongly as they chased the game.

Manchester Unitted are leading Liverpool by 5 points after the victory

The pressure paid off when Manchester United defender Eric Bailly's deflected clearance ended up in his own net in the 66th minute.

Liverpool grew in confidence and piled more pressure on United but Jose Mourinho's men were resolute till the final whistle.

The win solidifies United's 2nd position and puts them 5 points above Liverpool who are 3rd on the table.
