Just when things appeared to be going well for Ghana regarding competitive swimming, a scandal of a scandal of sorts threatens to scupper things.
Swimming sensation Ophelia Swayne has been reportedly suspended by the Ghana Swimming Association after she claimed her colleague swimmer Kaya Forson had induced officials with an undisclosed sum to be chosen ahead of her for the Olympic Games.
According to the Association president, Ophelia could not swim in the World Championship because she was unruly and got thrown out by her club during training leading to her displacement in the national team.
Theophilus Edzi in an interview with Starr Sports rubbished the young athlete’s assertion submitting: "Just after, you (Swayne) come back accusing the Association of collecting bribe when you had the opportunity to qualify you failed adding "before she comes back to the Association, she must render an unqualified apology to the Association and me.â€
