The University for Development Studies (UDS) has made history by winning the 2025 FISU University World Cup Football in Dalian, China.
UDS, representing Ghana and Africa, defeated Paulista University of Brazil 2-1 in the final to clinch the prestigious title, marking a monumental achievement for university football in the country.
Head coach Ibrahim Tanko, who led the side, has been widely praised for keeping his promise to deliver glory on the world stage. The team’s triumph has brought immense pride not only to the university but to Ghana and Africa at large.
In a Facebook post, Member of Parliament Iddrisu Kofi Adams commended the team and their coach for their exceptional performance.
“Congratulations UDS. Congratulations coach Tanko, you promised and you have delivered. You represented Ghana and Africa well. Congratulation, Congratulation, Congratulation,” he wrote.
The victory highlights the growing strength of Ghanaian football at the university level and positions UDS as a powerhouse in global student football.
