Gideon Boako, Spokesperson of Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has insisted that he would honour his promise to Bofoakwa Tano despite the team failing to gain promotion to next season's Ghana Premier League.

Ahead of Bofoakwa vs Berekum Chelsea clash on Sunday, a game the former needed a win to seal Ghana Premier League promotion, Bawumia's right-hand man promised to reward the team with GHC10,000 should they win the match.

However, they could not breach the defence of Arsenal to win the game, thereby RTU who beat Unity FC 2-0 on Sunday qualified ahead of them due to their superior head to head record.

"Ahead of their deciding match this afternoon, I had a meeting with the management and players of Tano Bofoakwa FC to encourage them to put up their best to win. I pledged my winning bonus of 10,000 cedis to the team," Boako said.

All hope is not lost for Bofoakwa Tano with regards to the cash, as Gideon Boako has confirmed he would still part away with the money although they didn't win the match.

"It’s unfortunate my Tano Bofoakwa FC could not make it to the Premiership but I will still give my 10,000 cedis bonus," he wrote.

Bofoakwa Tano after Sunday's match took to Twitter to congratulate Real Tamale United who have qualified for the Ghana Premier League for the first time after 8 years.
