Hearts of Oak legend Anas Seidu is dead

Ghana and Hearts of Oak legend Anas Seidu, popularly known as ‘Thunder’ has been confirmed dead.

Anas Seidu is reported to have died on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at his family house in Newtown, Accra.

He will be buried today, Sunday, July 2, in Accra per the Islamic customs.

The striker in his hay days played for Hearts of Oak and was a member of the iconic ‘Fearsome Five’ which featured; Mohammed Polo, Mama Bomber Acquah, Peter ‘best man’ Lamptey and Robert Hammond.

The ‘Fearsome Five’ were an intimidating quintet filled with incredibly talented players who formed the spine of Hearts of Oak and were a nightmare to play against in the 1970s.

Anas Seidu won numerous laurels with Hearts of Oak, notably the 1977 CAF Champions League, which was the club’s first ever Champions League title.

Thunder was a member of Ghana's team that the AFCON trophy in 1978.
