Hearts of Oak have officially withdrawn from the 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament, citing scheduling conflicts with their pre-arranged pre-season programme.
The Phobians announced their decision on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, after determining that the tournament dates would interfere with their preparations for the new Ghana Premier League season.
According to the club, the timing of the competition is too close to the start of the 2026/27 league campaign and would disrupt their planned training schedule, player recovery and other pre-season commitments.
Hearts of Oak had previously engaged the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to explore the possibility of changing the tournament dates.
However, those discussions did not result in a rescheduling of the competition, leaving the club with little option but to withdraw.
The club said its decision was taken in the interest of maintaining its planned preparations ahead of the new season.
Despite pulling out of the tournament, Hearts of Oak expressed appreciation to the GHALCA leadership for its efforts in organising the competition.
The Phobians also wished the remaining participating clubs well and stressed their commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with GHALCA and continuing to collaborate within Ghana’s football ecosystem.
Head coach Nebojsa Kapor will now keep his squad focused on the club’s localised pre-season programme as they continue preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The withdrawal means the GHALCA Top-4 Tournament will proceed without one of Ghana’s most prominent clubs, with the remaining teams set to continue their preparations through the competition.
