Ipswich Town have secured an immediate return to the Premier League after a convincing 3-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The Tractor Boys, needing a win to confirm second place in the EFL Championship, made a flying start at Portman Road. Early goals from George Hirst and Jaden Philogene inside the opening 10 minutes set the tone for a dominant performance.
Kasey McAteer added a third goal late on to seal the win, as Ipswich confirmed promotion alongside Coventry City.
Ipswich endured a difficult campaign last season after returning to the top flight for the first time in 22 years, but will hope that experience proves valuable this time around.
The club’s success follows its decision to keep faith with manager Kieran McKenna, who has now guided Ipswich to three promotions in four seasons.
“This has probably been the hardest one, if I’m honest, so it means an awful lot,” McKenna said. “We’ve had to rebuild the team under difficult circumstances, and everyone has stuck with it. I think we deserve to be where we are.”
Elsewhere, Wrexham’s fairytale rise was halted after a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough saw them miss out on the promotion playoffs, with Hull City taking the final spot.
Millwall secured third place with a 2-0 win over relegated Oxford United, finishing one point behind Ipswich. Southampton and Middlesbrough also booked their places in the playoffs.
