President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to support the recruitment of players from the Black Queens into Ghana’s security services, following the team’s impressive third-place finish at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The President made the announcement when the senior women’s national football team paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House to present their bronze medals and thank the government for its support during the tournament.

Commending the team for their dedication and resilience, President Mahama said the Black Queens had demonstrated not only skill but also discipline and patriotism worthy of national recognition.

“You’ve made Ghana proud. As part of our appreciation for your service to the nation, we will collaborate with the appropriate ministries to facilitate your recruitment into the security services,” the President assured.

The visit was marked by moments of celebration and encouragement, with the President reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting sports development and improving conditions for Ghanaian athletes.
