Accra Hearts of Oak have appointed midfielder Malik Akowuah as the interim captain of the team.

This new development comes on the back of the suspension of substantive captain Fatawu Mohammed.

Fatawu Mohammed was suspended after he called on the leadership of the club to make better recruitment and stop signing immature players.

This did not go down well with the club hierachy and they have suspended him indefinitely.

This has led to the club naming Malik Akowuah as the interim captain.

Hearts of Oak PRO Opare Addo in an interview with 442.gh.com confirmed the new development.

"Yes, it's true that Malik has been appointed the interim skipper. Fatawu will soon come back but we need a leader in his absence."

His role as the interim skipper starts immediately and ends the moment Fatawu's ban is lifted".
