Mamobi Community clinch 2018 Ramadan Football Gala trophy

Maamobi community narrowly beat Madina community 2-1 at the Kotobabi Wembley in Accra over the weekend in this year’s Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu Ramadan Football Gala final.

Madina community started on a front foot and opened the scoring through an own goal by their opposition. The defending champions,Madina community,  threw everything at Maamobi community in order to increase the tally but they could not find the net till half time.

The second half was fully dominated by Maamobi community as they came from behind to score two goals in succession.

Goals scored by Desmond Abuga and Fuseini Iliasu in the 10th and 14th minutes respectively, won the day for Mamobi side.

On their way to the finals in the Ramadan Football Gala, Mamobi knocked out Nungua 3-2 on penalty shootout, and beat Alajo 2-1, while Madina eliminated Newtown by 3-2 and beat Ashalley Botwe 1-0.

Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, National Chief Iman presented the magnificent trophy to the champions Maamobi community and urged the communities to foster peace and unity for national development which was the main aim for the competition.

Mamobi's winger, Sulley Ibrahim who played for the Black Starlets won the Goal king with four goals whiles their goalkeeper Victor Washington grabbed the best gloves, skipper Desmond Abuga was awarded the best player in the Ramadan Football Gala.

The Royal Bank with support from Ash Foam, Nasco Electronics Limited, Perla Mineral Water and McDan Group of Companies supported the tournament.
