Nations FC worked off their socks to claim a 1-0 victory over Accra Great Olympics at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Friday to go top of the Ghana Premier League table.

The Premier League debutants needed a win to climb to the summit of the table and Razak Simpson's 93rd minute strike ensured they grabbed all the spoils at home.

Coach Kasim Mingle named a strong starting line up that comprised Kofi Mensah, Emmanuel Boahene, Razak Simpson, Prince Badu, Abdul Karim and Justice Amate.

The debutants took the game to Great Olympics but failed to take their chances as the first half ended goalless due to the resilience of Great Olympics.

With the game heading to a draw, Nations FC scored a last gasp free kick to pick the points at Abrankese. Razak Simpson was on the end of a sumptuous free kick from the edge of the box to drive the ball into the back to the net for the only goal of the game.

Mingle’s side go into the weekend as table toppers - awaiting the outcome of Sunday's game between champions Medeama SC and FC Samartex.

Nations FC are now top of the table with 43 points - one point ahead of FC Samartex 1996 and 7 points richer than third placed Aduana FC.
