Hearts of Oak have announced the appointment of Serbian tactician Nebojsa Kapor as the club's new head coach.

This marks the beginning of what the Ghana Premier League giants describe as "a new era" aimed at restoring the Phobians to the summit of Ghanaian and African football.

According to the 1911 club, Kapor's appointment follows an extensive recruitment process.

Kapor has signed a two-year contract and becomes the first major technical appointment ahead of the 2026/27 season.

In a statement, Hearts of Oak said:

"The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC announces the appointment of Mr. Nebojsa Kapor as Head Coach, following an extensive recruitment process to restore the Club to domestic and continental prominence. The contract is for a 2-year period." The club highlighted Kapor's familiarity with Ghanaian football as one of the key reasons behind his appointment.

"A UEFA-licensed coach, Mr. Kapor brings valuable Ghana Premier League experience, having managed Tema Youth FC, Bechem United FC and Medeama SC. His tactical expertise, deep understanding of Ghanaian football, and progressive coaching philosophy distinguished him throughout the process." Kapor is no stranger to the Ghana Premier League, having previously coached Tema Youth, Bechem United and Medeama SC. During his spell with Medeama, he earned praise for implementing an organised, attacking style of play while promoting young talents.

Hearts believe the Serbian's football philosophy fits perfectly with the club's long-term ambitions.

"Known for building competitive, attacking teams grounded in discipline and youth development, his approach aligns closely with the Board's long-term vision for the Club." The Phobians also confirmed that more appointments will be announced as preparations continue for the new campaign.

"This appointment is the first of several technical appointments to be made in the coming weeks as the Club prepares for the next season." The club concluded by calling on supporters to unite behind the new coach.

"The Board is confident Coach Kapor has the leadership and technical competence to lead Hearts of Oak into a new era of stability and success. We ask the Phobian family to rally behind him and the technical team as we work together to restore this great Club to its rightful place at the summit of Ghanaian and African football." Kapor now faces the challenge of returning Hearts of Oak to title contention after recent seasons that have fallen below the club's lofty expectations.
