Nyantakyi makes history with FIFA Executive Council election win

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has made history after he was elected onto the Executive Council of world football governing body, FIFA as one of the two new representatives of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In a vote on Thursday at CAF's Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Mr Nyantakyi polled 31 votes to beat Madagascar's Ahmad (30 votes) and Senegal's Augustin Senghor (9) to the second slot available.

Almamy Kabele Camara of Guinea came first with 37 votes and together, they will be serving they will be serving from 30/09/2016 to 16/03/2017.

By this feat, the 47-year-old Nyantakyi becomes the first Ghanaian to serve on world football's powerful cabinet.
