Ghana's Black Stars have been knocked out of the AFCON 2023 tournament.
Ghana's early exit was confirmed on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 following Cameroon's win over Gambia.
The Indomitable Lions came from behind with two late goals to reach the last 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, beating The Gambia 3-2 in a thriller to knock their opponents out of the tournament.
Chris Hughton's side were hoping the Group C fixture would end in a draw to boost their chances of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams to the next phase of the tournament.
However, the Black Stars who threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Mozambique in the last group B game on Monday is now out of the tournament as their 2 points wasn't enough to see them qualify to the next stage.
This is the second successive group stage exit for the Black Stars after their early departure in the Cameroon 2021 edition.
