The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has ordered the immediate arrest of the Northern Regional Director and Accountant of the National Sports Authority (NSA) )due to the failure to deposit over GH¢160,000 in internally generated funds.

He failed to pay the funds into the designated Consolidated Fund Transit account of the Authority.

During Monday’s sitting, the Chairman of PAC, Dr James Klutse Avedzi, James Klutse Avedzi called for his after he failed to appear before the committee to explain the infraction identified by the Auditor General.

“We are directing that the regional director and accountant of the Northern region [NSA] should be picked up immediately by the police.”

“You were invited to appear before Parliament, and you refused, knowing very well that you had squandered over GH¢160,000 and you thought you would go scout free,” Avedzi added.

In the 2022 Auditor General’s report the Northern Regional Management of the Sports Authority failed to lodge internally generated funds in the sum of GHC160,000 in the designated Consolidated Fund Transit account of the Sports Authority.

The Auditor General said the money was spent and that is a breach of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.
