Palmer apologises to GFA over indemnity payments

Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association Winfred Osei Kweku popularly known as Palmer has apologised to the FA for the comments he made regarding the payment of indemnity to referees during Ghana's bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

The Tema Youth owner earlier said on Citi FM that, Ghana would have qualified for the Russia 2018 World Cup if money was made available to make unclassified and indemnity payments to referees.

In an interview on Atinka FM Palmer retracted his statement.

”I,Winfred Kweku Osei Palmer popularly known as Palmer, the statement I made on paying [bribes] to referees; I render an unqualified apology to all Ghanaians, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the FA and my colleagues in the football fraternity.

“[This] will not happen again,” he said.

His apology comes after the GFA’s Ethics Committee asked him to render an apology concerning his statement as he had no proof.
