Partey misses out as Chris Hughton names Black Stars squad for AFCON 2023

Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has named his final 27-man squad for the AFCON 2023 tournament.

Medeama pair of Abdul Fatawu Hamid (left back) and Jonathan Sowah (striker) and Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey are the 3 local players who made the list.

However, Arsenal ace and deputy captain of the Black Stars Thomas Partey has been left out of the squad due to injury.

 

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will open camp in Kumasi on Tuesday, January 2, 2023.

The team will play Namibia in a pre-AFCON friendly at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 8 pm.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, before taking on record holders Egypt on January 18 and play Mozambique on January 22 in the other Group B game.
