Nicholas Opoku is a Ghanaian defender who plays for Italian Serie A side Udinese.

Date of birth

21-year-old Opoku was born on August 11, 1997, in Kumasi, Ghana.

Early football career


He is a product of the famous Kumasi Corner Babies. He moved to Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea in 2016 where he made 19 appearances and scored a goal.

Club Africain

 

After just a season with Chelsea, he signed a  three year deal with Tunisian club Club Africain on 11 August 2017.
He impressed for the side making 18 appearances and caught the eye of several top sides in Europe.

Udinese

On 13 July 2018, Opoku signed with Serie A side Udinese until 30 June 2022. He is yet to make an appearance for the club.
 
International career


Opoku was a part of the Ghana under 17 squad that competed in 2013 African U-17 Championship. He has also represented the Ghana under-20 team.

In July 2017, Opoku made his senior international debut in a 2–1 defeat against the United States. He came as a 38th-minute substitute for Rashid Sumaila following his knee injury.
