Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum is staying on as head coach of Ghana’s U-17 team after putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the Black Starlets.

The former Asante Kotoko boss, who took over from Frimpong Manso, has quickly made an impact, guiding the team to qualification for the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for April.

After signing the contract, Dr. Ogum spoke with confidence about the road ahead and the belief shown in him by the Ghana Football Association.

“I’m grateful to the GFA for the trust and stability this contract brings,” he said. “Our focus is clear — to build a team that is technically sharp, tactically disciplined and mentally strong enough to compete with the very best in Africa. We’re not just preparing for a tournament; we’re laying a foundation for the future of Ghana football.”

Beyond the dugout, Dr. Ogum also serves as the GFA’s Head of Education, a role that underscores his passion for youth development and structured technical growth within the game.

His résumé includes leading Asante Kotoko to the 2022 Ghana Premier League title, guiding WAFA to a second-place finish, managing Ebusua Dwarfs, and serving as assistant coach of the Black Galaxies.
