Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has revealed that Zinedine Zidane has rejected the chance to return to Santiago Bernabeu.

The Frenchman left Madrid last summer, just five days after winning the third Champions League title back to back. Since his departure, Madrid has been struggling as they exited the Copa del Rey in the hands of Barcelona and also got knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax on Tuesday night.

"I know that this morning the president [Florentino Perez] called Zidane to ask him back, he said not now. He has left open the possibility of coming back in June," said Ramon.

Zidane shocked Real by walking out just days after a famous win against Liverpool which made him the first manager to win three European Cups in a row and only the third to win three in total - along with Bob Paisley and Carlo Ancelotti.
