South Africa will engage Ghana's Black Stars in a friendly next week, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday,  December 16, 2025, in Gauteng, though officials have yet to announce the specific venue.

The friendly is part of Bafana Bafana’s final preparations ahead of the AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

The South African team is expected to travel to North Africa a day after the friendly to fine-tune their squad for the competition.

South Africa, drawn in Group B, will open their AFCON campaign against Angola on 22 December, with Egypt and Zimbabwe completing the group.

Ghana will use the fixture as an opportunity to test its squad in the absence of AFCON football. The Black Stars missed out on qualification for the first time in over 20 years and are now focusing on the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, set to begin in March 2026, as well as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
