Ghana's midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has been lauded for his all-action performance in the Atletico Madrid's goalless draw against Real Madrid.

The Madrid derby played at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium failed to produce any goals but the performance of Black Stars midfielder set social media ablaze.

The 26-year Ghanaian was simply sublime, recording a 95% passing accuracy from 38 out of 40 total passes in the first half alone. He had a 100% duel success rate in the opening period, winning four out of four, and also made four recoveries.

The best Atletic chance in the first half fell to teenage sensation Joao Felix, but the Portuguese forward could only fire wide after receiving a perfectly-timed pass from Partey.

He made a total of 79 passes in the entire 90 minutes he played, and also made four dribbles, which was more than any player from either team on the pitch. He ultimately won the Man of the Match award.

He has been an integral part of Atletico Madrid since making his debut in November 2015, making 145 competitive appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.

A fan tweeted: "Thomas Partey rightly getting plaudits for a masterclass vs Real Madrid last night. Here's a problem: His buyout clause is only €50m. Scandalous."

Another added: "Not only is Thomas Partey the best African midfielder at the moment he's also one of the best midfielders in Europe right now. Absolute masterclass today against Real Madrid, laser-guided passing, solid positioning and diligent work off the ball."

A fan also tweeted: Man United should sell all their midfielders and buy Thomas partey #that guy is a genius #composure of the highest level, he is playing against Madrid like he is playing against one rubbish team #Love the guy."
