Bawumia hints of talks to digitalize football tickets

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said talks are ongoing with the National Sports Authority (NSA) to digitalize tickets for football matches in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the digitized National Assay Laboratory in Accra on Wednesday, March 2, Bawumia revealed that the talks are at an advanced stage and when implemented, fans would sit at the comfort of their homes and purchase tickets for games, avoiding long queues. 

“The government under the leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recognises that our progress as a nation in the modern world is inextricably linked to digitalisation and will therefore continue its adoption for the enhanced service delivery,” the Vice President said.

AS Roma: Jose Mourinho drops Afena-Gyan from first team after nightclub visit

Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan has been dropped from the first team of AS Roma as Jose Mourinho was disappointed to find out that the 19-year-old had gone clubbing on Saturday.

Afena-Gyan made his senior debut under Mourinho this term, scoring two goals on his third Serie A appearance on November 21.

He has already played 12 games in Italy’s top flight, but according to Il Messaggero newspaper, he won’t be part of the first time for the next few weeks. Mourinho has decided to drop the striker to the Primavera team after finding out that he had gone clubbing on Saturday.

Roman Abramovich puts Chelsea up for sale

Roman Abramovich has put Chelsea up for sale and wants around £3billion for the club.

Chelsea believe a sale to a US tycoon is their best route, despite Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss claiming he has been offered the chance to join a £2bn consortium with 'six or seven' other investors to buy the club.

 

Russian oligarch Abramovich, who bought the club in 2003, has previously turned down offers worth £2.2bn for Chelsea, while the club’s debt to him is £1.51bn.

It is believed a US merchant bank has been put in charge of selling the club.

Black Maidens coach Baba Nuhu names squad for Senegal test

Black Maidens Head Coach, Baba Nuhu has named a squad list of 22 players to face Senegal’s young Teranga Lioness in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 Qualifiers.

Youngster Princess Owusu, the leading top scorer in the Women’s Premier League headlines the attacking trio while Dreamz Ladies Midfield sensation, Stella Nyamekye will play an integral role in the squad.

 

Berlene Nyarko and Agnes Yeboah made the list as players from the lower tier sides Mfantsiman Royals and Combined Forces respectively.

Great Olympics reappoints Yaw Preko

Great Olympics have confirmed the appointment of Yaw Preko until the end of the 2021/22 football season.

The former Ghana international will be serving as an assistant to the club's head coach Annor Walker.

He joins the Wonder club for the second time after his departure last season.

No vaccination, no entry at various stadia - Sports Ministry

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has issued a directive to the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Football Association to ensure that only fans who are fully vaccinated are admitted into the various stadia on Match Days.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

It will be recalled that in October, 2021, the President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced a “No vaccination, No entry” policy for fans ahead of the 2021/2022 League season.
