Coordinator for the Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu Ramadan Cup, Tamimu Issah, says the main objective of the competition is to foster unity among Muslim youths.
Speaking exclusively to Primenewsghana, the Coordinator stressed the importance of football as a tool to promote unity in any given any circumstance.
"The football competition is a social activity that marks the end of the Ramadan, the main purpose is to promote peace and foster unity among Muslim youths."
"The competition is named after the National Chief Iman Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu because he is the highest Muslim religious authority in the Country and is a well known leader".
Muslims in the Zongo Communities have often been tagged as violent people and the Muslim authorities use the power of football to wipe off that notion.
The football competition which begun in 2015 has seen two editions already and the third will be played on July 1st at the Kotobabi Wembley Park.
16 Community teams will participate in this year's tournament, Â Ashiaman has won the cup in all previous events.
The National Chief Imam is expected to grace the event.
