Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has hinted that his outfit plans to boycott the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda slated for September 3, 2016 due to the Ministry of Youth and Sports’s inability to provide funds to fly down the players.

The Black Stars training scheduled for Monday ahead of the game was called off following the players’ no show.

Sports minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye had earlier stated that his office was not in the right position to afford the cost of flying down foreign based players to honour the game hence the need for Coach Avram Grant to organize a local based side for the game.

However, the GFA and the technical handlers of the Black stars had already invited 21 foreign based players and were expecting them for Monday’s training session but the latest development is forcing the FA to abandon the game.

“Since this minister came, I don’t know if we are moving forward or backwards.”

“Some of our executives from the GFA went to meet the Deputy Sports Minister and nothing like ‘no money’ to fly down players came up.”

As we speak now, we are thinking of abandoning the game completely.” He told Happy FM.

The Black Stars have already qualified for next year’s tournament having amassed thirteen (13) points so far from 5 games played while the Rwandans are in second place with six (6) reports footballghana.com.
