Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will not be part of the Black Stars side to honour the World Cup 2022 qualifiers in September.

The midfielder who had earlier been named in the provisional squad has been ruled out of the September games due to him nursing an ankle injury suffered against Chelsea in Arsenal's pre-season friendly.

Black Stars Charles Kwablan Akonnor, addressing the media today over various issues today revealed that the Gunners number 5 injury is bad and wishes him well.

"I have contacted his club and Thomas Partey's injury doesn't look too good" he said.

"We will only have to wish him a speedy recovery and expect him to return stronger."

Akonnor last week named a 30-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Ghana are scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg respectively.
