Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has officially launched the 150th anniversary celebrations of Mfantsipim School, describing the institution as a cornerstone in shaping Ghana’s intellectual and leadership heritage.
Addressing the gathering, she noted that generations of students who have passed through the school have made significant contributions to national development, underscoring its enduring legacy of excellence, discipline, and character formation. She also reflected on the institution’s intergenerational impact, highlighting its influence across families and communities.
The Vice President referenced the longstanding and respectful rivalry between Mfantsipim and Adisadel College, stating that such engagement exemplifies the values of intellectual discourse and mutual respect that should underpin national dialogue.

She further emphasized that the school’s legacy, rooted in the vision of the Methodist Church Ghana, represents not only longevity but also the transformative role of education in strengthening the nation’s foundations. She stressed the imperative to expand access to education without compromising quality, while aligning learning with innovation, critical thinking, and national development priorities.
On the occasion, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced government support for the education of persons with disabilities, as well as renewed efforts toward the completion of projects at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang urged current students to uphold the institution’s values of integrity, discipline, and service, and commended alumni and stakeholders for their sustained commitment to the school’s advancement.
She congratulated the Mfantsipim community on this historic milestone and expressed confidence in its continued impact in the years ahead.
