Over 5000 youths are to be trained by through a partnership between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

The beneficiaries to be  selected from  across the nation's ten regions will be given practical training in modules including masonry, capentry and hairdressing, among others.

Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu, warned  that he will not hesitate to punish the YEA and NVTI for any misappropriation in the execution of their mandates in the provision of jobs, adding that,"We would like the managers of NVTI and YEA to know that we will be very strict. As such, we would urge them to make sure that all procurement processes are adhered to without any excuses and that competitively where necessary they must ensure they open up the procurement process".

Mr Iddrisu promised that his ministry was not going to repeat past mistakes that led to the collapse of similar modules.

“On our honor we will not, this should even be viewed as a binding agreement since both of them are accountable institutions under their respective laws and we will hold them accountable to their audit processes and their annual reports even to Parliament so that we will be able to appreciate them", he pledged.
