The Austrian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Jürgen Heissel, paid a courtesy call today on Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, to explore potential partnerships in the energy sector.

During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in productive discussions focused on advancing renewable energy initiatives, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing capacity-building programmes.

Ambassador Heissel reaffirmed Austria’s readiness to support Ghana’s energy transition by sharing expertise, technology, and knowledge to help diversify the country’s energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Hon. Jinapor welcomed the Ambassador’s visit and expressed the government’s commitment to building strong international partnerships aimed at delivering clean, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.

He noted that Ghana views collaboration with countries like Austria as critical to achieving its green energy goals.

Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas such as solar and hydropower development, grid modernization, and technical training. They also identified potential investment opportunities that could further strengthen Ghana’s energy infrastructure.

The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to maintain ongoing dialogue and to work towards identifying and implementing tangible projects that will support Ghana’s green transition agenda.
