The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana is poised to involve stakeholders in devising ways to promote development and societal change through marketing with its annual conference.

As a follow up to the annual CIMG marketing performance awards, the annual strategic marketing conference which takes place at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, is organized to further discuss the theme selected for the year which is Cause-related marketing: a panacea for national behavioural change.

The Deputy Executive director of the CIMG, Chris Asempa said the purpose of the two-day event is to divulge the various aspects of the theme and how it affects various sectors of the country’s development.

“There is a call for attitudinal change by the government. There must be a change in the general attitude of Ghanaians towards business activities as well as social life. This change can be promoted through cause-related marketing where marketers sell their products amidst providing satisfaction for the consumer and influencing their attitudes positively.” He explained.

The first day of the conference, Wednesday, 25th October 2017 saw the guest speaker who is the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, Susan Adu Amankwah of the Noguchi Memorial Institute and Kojo Williams, lead project manager for the center for CSR, West Africa speak on the theme with reference to the political environment, societal issues and Corporate social responsibility in Ghana respectively.

CIMG’s aim is to deepen the interest of the marketing profession and that of its members and to ensure that the Institute impacts positively in the performance of its lawful role on society and the economy of Ghana and the world at large.
