The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has firmly denied claims that it donated GH¢12 million to sponsor Ghana’s Black Stars.
In a public notice, the Board described allegations that it had diverted funds earmarked for cocoa farmers to support the team as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis.”
COCOBOD categorically stated that it has neither sponsored the national team nor redirected resources intended for cocoa farmers for that purpose.
“At no point has COCOBOD diverted funds meant for farmer payments to support the Black Stars,” the notice emphasised.
Reaffirming its core mandate, COCOBOD stressed that it remains committed to prioritising the welfare of cocoa farmers. This includes the prompt payment for cocoa purchases, the provision of inputs and extension services, and sustained investment in the cocoa sector.
The Board further urged the public to disregard the circulating claims and rely solely on official COCOBOD communication channels for accurate and verified information.
