The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has debunked reports suggesting a shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) fuel in Ghana.
In a statement issued on July 24, 2025, the Ministry emphasized that there is no shortage of ATK fuel and that adequate supplies are available to support all aircraft operations.
The Ministry clarified that recent maintenance on the ATK jetty pipeline—necessary for fuel integrity—had been completed, and a recent shipment of 11,984 metric tons of ATK fuel has bolstered reserves.
“Recent maintenance work was completed on the ATK jetty pipeline to enhance fuel security. This was long overdue, and any delays would have posed risks to the integrity of the jetty and the country’s fuel security,” the statement said.
Of this, 4,583 metric tons have already been delivered to PWSL, while the remaining is being distributed to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Ridge Depots, with completion expected by midday on July 25, 2025.
Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah has been actively engaging stakeholders, including those in the petroleum sector and the Ghana Airport Company Limited, to ensure transparency and preparedness.
“We urge the public to disregard any false reports of ATK shortages in the country,” said Richmond Rockson, Spokesperson and Head of Communication.
