Energy Minister inaugurates Electricity Market Oversight Panel

A 10-member panel for the reconstituted Electricity Market Oversight Panel (EMOP) has been inaugurated with a call on them to safeguard the stability and efficiency of Ghana’s electricity market.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, commended the panel members for their expertise and pledged the Ministry’s full support and guidance in the execution of their mandate.

He also directed the panel to undertake a comprehensive review of the operations, procedures, and manual of the wholesale electricity market to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Chairman of the panel, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, assured that the EMOP would operate strictly in line with the newly approved market rules as well as existing sector policies and regulations.
