The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed grave concern over the persistent mismanagement and corruption that have plagued the operations of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) Limited, warning that the situation is untenable and must be urgently reversed.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new Governing Board for PBC Limited in Accra, Dr. Forson lamented that the once-vibrant cocoa purchasing company had deteriorated significantly.

“I am deeply worried about what PBC has become. This is not good, and it cannot continue,” Dr. Forson said pointedly.

“I hear you cannot even pay your workers. This cannot continue. Let us work together to turn things around.”
He reminded the newly constituted Board of its critical responsibility to restore transparency, efficiency, and public confidence in the company.

“As a new governing board, you have a big responsibility. You must not fail. The future of PBC and the livelihoods of many cocoa farmers depend on your decisions,” he added.

The newly sworn-in Board is chaired by Mr. Nana Meisu Adu, who, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the government for the trust reposed in them.

He also assured the Minister that the Board would work diligently to steer PBC back to stability and growth.
