After a shut down by the GRA that lasted more than two months over an alleged tax default, one of the country's mobile telecommunications operators - Glo Ghana has resumed for business .

The telecom operator was in July 2017 shut down for failure to pay its taxes since last year - 2016.

According to the GRA, the eventual shutdown came after a series of correspondence between the revenue agency and Glo Ghana pressurizing the company to pay up its debts in taxes.

Speaking to the media on the development, Head of the Task Force at the GRA, Henry Bradford Sam, said the company was indebted in taxes in excess of Ghc11, 884,396.89 but has cleared over 10% of the amount at the close of Tuesday September 5th 2017.

“After Glo was closed down, what happened was that they appealed to the Commissioner General for a special dispensation to pay the tax in installments so an arrangement was made for them to effect payment. They have made a first payment of 1.3 million Ghana cedis out of the 11.8 million cedis” Mr. Sam stated.

The GRA Taskforce boss disclosed that Glo Ghana has to pay at least an additional Ghc1.3 million over the next one month to avoid disciplinary action from the tax authority.

He added that once the satisfactory payment for their reopening had been made, the GRA opened Glo’s offices for commencement of full business operations.
