The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has refuted claims that it has incurred losses exceeding GH₵3 billion in its first year of operation, describing the report as “entirely false” and “mischievous.”
The denial follows a publication by Asaase Radio alleging that the statutory body was operating at a significant financial loss.
In a statement issued on Monday, the GoldBod said the report was deliberately crafted to undermine the institution’s achievements and contributions to Ghana’s economy.
According to the Board, its operations have consistently generated surpluses since its establishment. GoldBod added that forthcoming quarterly financial statements—expected to be published on its official website—will confirm its profitability.
The statement further urged the public to disregard the report, calling it misleading and unethical. GoldBod also demanded a full retraction and an unqualified apology from the management of Asaase Radio for what it described as irresponsible journalism.
The statement was signed by the Media Relations Unit of the Ghana Gold Board.
