The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced the deployment of inspection teams across the country beginning Monday, February 2, 2026, to ensure strict compliance with licensing requirements in the jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication and gold refining sectors.

In a notice issued by its Compliance Directorate, GoldBod said it has observed that some jewellery manufacturers, fabricators and gold refineries are operating without valid licenses, contrary to the provisions of Act 1140.

The Board stressed that only duly licensed persons are permitted to engage in gold trading and related activities in Ghana.

GoldBod reminded the public that operating without a valid GoldBod license constitutes a criminal offence and is punishable under the law.

It recalled that in a press statement dated October 22, 2025, all existing jewellery manufacturers, fabricators and gold refineries were directed to regularize their operations by December 31, 2025.

“With the deadline now elapsed, GoldBod inspectors will be deployed nationwide to ensure that only licensed operators are engaged in jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication and gold refining businesses,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Board commended a few jewellery manufacturing entities that have successfully completed the licensing process and have been duly issued GoldBod jewellery and fabrication licenses.

The licensed entities include Sourcechain Enterprise, Shepaj Limited Company, Koshuuz Enterprise, M.J Jewellery Limited Company, Mahmoud’s Jewellery Limited, Agyaba Jewellery, Gold Casting, Goldlovers GH Limited, Wappahs Jewellery, Mahalaxmi Ghana Limited, and Sahara Jewellery Limited Company.

GoldBod reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the laws and regulations governing the gold trading sector, emphasizing that the measures are aimed at promoting accountability, transparency and regulatory compliance within the industry.
