President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Doctor Ofori Ameyaw says the group is gathering evidence from the field to be presented to the Trade and Industry minister for sanction application against foreigners undertaking retail business in violation of the law.

Mr. Ameyaw claimed despite being in touch with government officials about the breach which is inimically impacting on the economic fortunes of its Ghanaian members they are forced to take the new action per the demand of state officials.

“We have been in talks with some government officials and what they claim is that we do not have enough evidence to back our case.”

He added “this is why we are on the field to identify the shops of the foreigners and gather the necessary evidence and submit it to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and we will take it from there.”
