The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect following preliminary findings from an internal enforcement operation.
In a press release dated February 24, 2026, the Authority said the decision forms part of ongoing investigations into suspected procedural breaches linked to a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.
According to the GRA, the operation, conducted on February 18, 2026, uncovered discrepancies in documentation and non-compliance with established transit procedures. These findings have triggered a comprehensive internal review to determine the full extent of the matter.
Initial assessments point to possible lapses that require further independent and detailed examination. The Authority noted that the investigation will establish the facts, including any individual involvement and deviations from standard Customs protocols.
The GRA added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the probe where necessary. It assured that upon conclusion of the investigations, appropriate administrative actions will be taken in line with applicable laws and regulations.
Management emphasized that the interdiction reflects its commitment to protecting national revenue, supporting the growth of local industries, and promoting overall economic development.
The Authority further assured stakeholders and the general public that revenue collection and enforcement procedures will continue to be executed with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
