Royal Bank Limited founder Alhaji Adamu Iddrisu dead

Reports reaching primenewsghana.com indicate Royal Bank Limited founder Alhaji Adamu Iddrisu is dead.

Alhaji Iddrisu who is also the owner and Chairman of Global Haulage Group Limited is said to have died early Wednesday morning after dawn prayers. 

The 72-year-old bore 23 children comprising 15 males and 8 females. 

Emerging as a prudent entrepreneur, Alhaji  Iddrisu founded the Global Haulage Company in 1953 becoming so successful that he set up additional business entities including the Royal Bank, Imperial General Insurance, Federated Commodities, Trans Royal Ltd, Cocoa Merchant, Royal Commodities, Isudam Construction, Global Automobile Limited, GG Farms and Global Haulage Real Estate.

His operations has provided direct and indirect job opportunities for about 12,000 people. Acknowledging his impact on Ghana, Africa and the world, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) conferred an Honorary Doctorate on him. He also received a national award as a member of the Order of the Volta and was a Millennium Excellence Awards recipient.

Alhaji Iddrisu was also a recipient of the Africa International Awards and two European Awards.

In line with Islamic custom, he is expected to be buried later on Wednesday.
