President John Dramani Mahama has paid tribute to the late veteran Comedian, Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng, popularly known as Bob Okala. The 59-year old passed away on Sunday dawn  at the Koforidua Government Hospital, after a short illness.

He died shortly after a performance at an event in the town on Saturday night. The President , after receiving the news of the death of the renowned comedian, took to social media to openly express his sorrow and to also extend his condolence to the bereaved family. He said Bob Okala brought joy to many homes through his stand-up comedy.

“I have been informed of the death of comedian Bob Okalla. He brought joy to many homes, and of course to Lordina & I,” said the President. Bob Okala was recently part of the selected actors and comedians who marched last Sunday at the 59th Independence Day parade.

Bob Okala’s death comes just a little over a month after another great comedian Nkomode passed on. The two were Ghana’s best in the 1990s in the popular Key Soap Concert Party on television.
